Passage in the Chronicles of the Council of Watchers, dated 22nd May 1274 and written in Latin, translated:

We record the passing of Rosa of Corleone, slain by a vampire before she reached her twentieth year.  May God have mercy on her soul.

Guglielmo di Cambio escaped with his life and has returned to Rome to await further assignment.

Recorded by the hand of Salvio Boncarpi, Delegate of the Council of Watchers to His Holiness Gregory X.

Passage in the Chronicles of the Council of Watchers, 4th June 1811.

K. has returned from the Peninsular to report failure in the matter of Teresa dos Santos y Guttierez.  Viscount Wellesley flatly forbade him to take any action, and threatened to have his men flogged or impressed into the infantry if they did not remove themselves from Spain on the instant.  Wellesley states that Teresa is worth a regiment of Cavalry to him, and that any action against her must be regarded as Treason to the Crown.  He is held in high regard at Horse Guards following Albuera, and we cannot go against him.

K. reports, however, that he understands that the French are taking their own action against T. and have sought the aid of a Wallachian Count with special experience in these matters.  We trust, therefore, that the matter will soon be resolved and another shall be called in her place to continue the true task.

Passage in the Chronicles of the Council of Watchers, 23rd September 1812.

K. returns from Spain.  He spoke with Wellesley in Madrid, again seeking to act against Teresa dos Santos y Guttierez, and again was repulsed.

Despite pointing out that T. is now a vampire, K. had no satisfaction from Wellesley.  His Lordship claims T. is more valuable to him than ever, and says that her inability to operate in daylight is more than compensated for by her power in the night.

She remains, Wellesley says, a true friend to England, and says that he wishes she would bite some of his Colonels!

Passage from the Chronicle of the Council of Watchers, dated 2nd February 1866

Sir Humphrey Gilbert is back from Mexico, with tragic news.  The village of San Pedro de la Colonias, home of Gabriella del Espadon, was attacked last year by a punitive expedition of the French.  Any survivors must have left the area after burying the dead, and he was unable to find any witnesses.  He found the grave of Father Isidro; a sad end to a valued Watcher.  He found no grave for Senorita del Espadon, but she must have perished, as Brendan Cotterel reports from Virginia that Lucy Hanover has had the Call.

He attempted to locate members of the French expedition to question them, but found that they had themselves been attacked and destroyed shortly after their assault upon the village.  What little evidence he could find indicates that it was Teresa dos Santos and Rosa of Corleone who avenged the Mexican villagers, and thus avenged Gabriella.

Passage from the Chronicle of the Council of Watchers, 7th March 1950.

Bunny rang from Hamburg with startling news.  Lyudmila Mezentzeva has arrived there safely after escaping from Russia.  She was delivered to him by three vampires; the famous trio of Corleone, dos Santos, and del Espadon.  They had rescued her from the Never Gulag and brought her through the Curtain!  She is suffering from malnutrition but otherwise in good shape, and has nothing but praise for her vampire rescuers.  This may be a problem later, but for the moment we are just glad to have her back.

Bunny was suspicious of their motives but says they asked for nothing and were polite and friendly.  He reports that Rosa is starting to show visible signs of vampirism and no longer wears a crucifix, although the other two still do.

He was bold enough to ask them about the massacre at Oradour-sur-Glane.  They admitted responsibility without qualms, and seemed unable to understand that they had done anything wrong.  With no backup, and faced by perhaps the three most dangerous vampires in the world, he did not press the point.

Passage from the Chronicle of the Council of Watchers, May 18th 1962, synopsis of a report dated May 7th 1962 written originally in French.

Edgar Depin reports the death of Elisabeth Godineau on 5th May.  She was made to fight the vampire Gabriella del Espadon, while Teresa dos Santos and Rosa di Corleone held him prisoner with a gun at his head.  The vampires told Edgar and Elisabeth that they would kill him if Elisabeth lost, but would release them both if she won.  Del Espadon defeated Elisabeth easily, broke her legs, and drank her blood.  They then released Edgar, telling him that they had never had any intention of killing him but had wanted to make sure that Elisabeth did not hold back out of fear for him.  During the fight a male vampire approached, and di Corleone cut off its head!

He is shocked and grieving, and also baffled by their odd behaviour.  They told him afterwards that del Espadon simply could not allow there to be a French Slayer on the centenary of ‘Cinco de Mayo’.

The enigma posed by those three vampires continues to deepen.  It was also another grim warning as to how dangerous they are.

Edgar confirms the observation by Bunny Pakenham that Rosa di Corleone is beginning to show the classic vampire forehead ridges.  She has been a vampire now for nearly seven hundred years, so it is not surprising.  It is amazing that she has retained her humanity for so long.  Apparently she can no longer wear a crucifix, but shows no discomfort from the crucifixes worn by her companions.
